If you are traveling to Canada I suggest that you start bringing a passport or Birth
certificate.
In early January when entering through Highgate I was asked for proof of citizenship and
proceeded to hand over my drivers license as usual, the border guard responded with,
That is not proof of citizenship and I replied It is what I have used for 25 years and now it
is no good, He then stated that it was required to have proof of citizenship and asked how
would I like it if he made me go get it.
I do not know if he was on some kind of mission or the border is tightening.
Subsequently I have been bringing my passport and on one trip I asked a different border
person if the passport was required and she said that it was not but they had the right to
request it, OK that made sense, anyway I bring my passport now to avoid problems.
